Madison Murtgah is a senior middle blocker for the Women of Troy.
2017
As a junior, Murtagh appeared in 14 matches and played in 20 sets… scored three kills, 11 blocks, and five service aces for 14.0 points… matched her career high of two service aces in to matches.
2016
As a sophomore transfer from the University of San Francisco, Murtagh appeared in 14 matches with six starts… saw 36 sets of action and finished with 20 kills (0.56 kps) and 23 blocks (0.64 bps) for 33.5 points… scored a season-high five kills against Santa Clara (Aug. 27)… started in USC’s NCAA tournament match against Hawai’i and scored a season-high seven blocks (two solo).
2016 (SAN FRANCISCO BEACH VOLLEYBALL)
Murtagh competed on the sand for the Dons in six matches… went 2-4 overall with three different partners from the No. 5 position… earned her two wins with partner Kim Gutierrez, defeating pairs from Portland and San Jose State on March 5.
2015 (SAN FRANCISCO)
As a freshman, Murtagh was a West Coast Conference All-Freshman Team selection… appeared in all 108 sets for USF… ranked fifth in the WCC in hitting percentage (.307) and seventh in blocks per set (1.11 bps)… led the Dons with 25 service aces… finished with seven double-digit kill performances… notched a season-high 14 kills twice (vs. Gonzaga, Oct. 1; at Portland, Oct. 29)… recorded eight blocks in back-to-back matches versus Denver (Aug. 29) and against Southern Utah (Sept. 4)… named to the San Francisco Invitational All-Tournament team with 19 total blocks, including six solo stuffs, in her first weekend of collegiate action… named Most Valuable Player of the Utah State Gossner Invitational with 27 kills on a .434 hitting and 15 total blocks… selected to the San Francisco Challenge All-Tournament team with 26 kills (.415 hitting) and three aces… fall and spring Dean’s Honor Roll.
HIGH SCHOOL
Murtagh was a four-year letterwinner as a middle blocker and opposite hitter at Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep under head coach Margi Beima… helped lead the Fighting Irish to their first West Coast Athletic League title in school history, a 37-3 record, and the 2014 California CIF Division III championship… chosen to the 2014 All-Mercury News Girls’ Volleyball First Team… a two-time All-WCAL First Team selection as a junior and senior… WCAL second team selection as a sophomore and honorable mention as a freshman… received the 2014 Certificate of Academic Excellence in Ethics and the 2015 Vincentine Contrero ’51 Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Athletics.

Madison Houlihan Murtagh was born on July 13, 1996, in San Francisco, Calif.… parents are Timothy and Margaret Murtagh… has one sister Mackenzie, who played volleyball at San Francisco (2010-13)… aspires to own her own business one day… majoring in international relations.
