Sean Brosnan

Title:
Assistant Coach for Distance and Cross Country

Sean Brosnan joined USC Track and Field as Assistant Director for Distance and Cross Country in July 2026.

Brosnan most notably coached Newbury Park High School Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field to historic finishes at the state and national level from 2016 to 2022. His men's team went undefeated at league championships six years in a row and won a state championship title three times. Additionally, he became the first high school coach to ever coach the individual winner and team winner at the cross country national championships in 2019, and Brosnan is the only coach in high school history to coach three athletes under 8:35 in the 3200m. Overall, he has coached high school athletes to 18 different national and state records.

Brosnan moved to the Division I level in 2023 where he coached nine All-Americans at UCLA, including five school records in his first year.

Prior to Newbury Park, Brosnan worked at the Division II level at Queens University of Charlotte where he coached individuals to the Indoor NCAA 5k National Title, Outdoor NCAA 1500 National Title, Outdoor 10k NCAA National Title and the NCAA DII national women's 10k record.
