LOS ANGELES - The USC baseball program has the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, Collegiate Baseball newspaper announced today.
In the 17 years that Collegiate Baseball has posted rankings, this is the first time that USC has earned the No. 1 spot.
The Trojans earned the selection due to the fact that seven of eight letter-of-intent signees chose school over pro contracts, and that USC added two transfers from Vanderbilt that were 1999 Freshman All-Americans (Aaron Fausett and Mark Prior).
"We are very excited about this group of recruits," said USC Coach Mike Gillespie in August. "It is certainly a quality incoming class, equal to any we've ever had and perhaps even the best. This should form the nucleus of USC baseball for the next few years."
