LOCKERROOM QUOTES FROM USC HEAD COACH HENRY BIBBY:
"It wasn't an easy game. It was a tough-fought game. We played a very good team tonight. We did some things defensively that enabled us to get some easy baskets. Sam Clancy had a very good game and dominated inside.
"We were in control of the game the whole time. They rely on 3-point shooting. Lloyd is the key to that. So we tried to make someone else do it.
"We've had some ups and downs this year and let some teams back in games when we should've put them away. I thought with 7:59 to go, here we go again.
"I think Desmon Farmer can come in and be a big plus. I think Tyler Murphy can give us key minutes. I think Robert Hutchinson can spell Brandon Granville some.
"I think Sam Clancy played better last year. Last year, he dominated every game. He hasn't done that until tonight. I think we were better as a team last year than this year, absolutely. But tonight we dominated a very good team.
"Hopefully, Jeff Trepagnier will be back next week. That'd be a shot in the arm for us."
USC NOTES:
Sam Clancy had his third straight double-double and fourth of the season. He tied his career high with 6 blocks. And he set a career high with 12 field goals.
Brandon Granville scored a season-high 21 points.
LOCKERROOM QUOTES FROM LONG BEACH STATE HEAD COACH WAYNE MORGAN:
"USC played a good game. We made too many mistakes. Turnovers hurt us tonight. We were trying to go at them in transition, but our kids forgot we have to do the same on defense.
"Going into conference play, playing games against teams with the size like USC, will help us.
"We are looking for ways to improve and games like tonight will help us to see what we need to do to improve.
"Ramel Lloyd and Lemi Williams need to have good games. If your best players don't play well, it doesn't bode well for you.
"I don't think we played smart tonight. We had too many mistakes."
