
Boyd-Peterson Claim Pac-10 Invitational Doubles Championship

OJAI, Calif. -- Jacqui Boyd and Jewel Peterson of the USC women's tennis team captured the 2000 Pac-10 Invitational doubles championship by defeating Jen Heiser and Sara Pestieau of Stanford, 6-4, 7-6, this afternoon in Ojai, Calif. The duo has only played 13 matches together this season for an 8-5 overall record.
The Women of Troy were also represented in the Pac-10 tournament doubles championship by partners Tiffany Brymer and Kara Warkentin. The duo lost in the finals to ninth-ranked Lindsey Blau and Michelle Gough of Arizona, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
Throughout the four-day tournament USC had six singles advance to the second round of play, and three to the quarterfinals. Among them, Warkentin dropped a narrow 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 loss to Stanford's Lauren Kalvaria in the quarterfinals of the main tournament.
The 12th-ranked Women of Troy will now await the 2000 NCAA tournament selections this Thursday, May 4, at 12:30 p.m. PT.
