Baseball Beats Washington, 6-1, To Win Eighth Straight

SEATTLE, Wash. - El Segundo product Alberto Concepcion went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI to lead the No. 18 USC Trojans (36-18, 14-8) in a 6-1 win over the host Washington Huskies (26-28, 7-15) in Pac-10 Conference play. With the win, the Trojans won their season-high eighth straight game and have won nine of their last 10 games.
In the Trojans' second, freshman Anthony Lunetta led off with an infield single followed by a bunt infield single by Rob Garibaldi to the right side of the field. After Concepcion bunted two balls foul, he ripped a 2-2 pitch to left field for a three-run homer. Josh Persell added an RBI double for a four-run inning.
Concepcion then hit a two-out, two-run homer in the eighth to solidify the Trojans' lead. Rik Currier improved to 12-3 on the season by striking out nine batters in 7 and 1/3 innings of work. Seth Davidson had his 13-game hitting streak snapped with an 0-for-5 effort.
Washington scored its lone run on a solo shot to center by Todd Linden, who went 3-for-3 on the night.
Saturday's game will start at 1 p.m. with Mark Prior scheduled to start for the Trojans. The game will be broadcast live on FOX Sports Northwest.
