Los Angeles, Calif. -- The USC women's volleyball team -- off to a 5-0 start -- earned the No. 1 national ranking in this week's Volleyball magazine Division I poll.
The Women of Troy jumped one spot after sweeping Rhode Island, Texas-San Antonio and Temple last week at the Met-Rx Invitational.
In the AVCA/USA Today Coaches poll released this week, the Trojans are currently ranked No. 6 and received one first place vote.
So far this season, USC has swept each of its opponents, winning 15 consecutive games for the first time since 1977. The 1977 Trojans won their first 27 consecutive games en route to the AIAW National Championship.
USC will open its Pac-10 schedule this week at home against Washington State (Sept. 14) and Washington (Sept. 15). Both matches are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at North Gym.
