PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Sam Clancy scored 27 points to help USC finish the regular season with a 78-63 win over Washington State.
USC (21-9, 11-7 Pacific 10) jumped on the Cougars (12-16, 5-13) early, as Clancy scored 11 points in a 20-8 run to start the game. The Trojans extended the lead to 13 at halftime and led by as much as 20 in the second half.
The Trojans opened the second half with thunderous dunks on four of their first five shots. Clancy and David Bluthenthal took turns on five dunks in the first six minutes of the half.
The Trojans dominated on the glass all afternoon, out-rebounding Washington State 23-10 in the first half, including 10 offensive rebounds to just one for WSU.
Bluthenthal scored 20 points and Brian Scalabrine added 12 to join Clancy in double figures for the Trojans.
The Cougars were led by Mike Bush with 15 points and center J Locklier with 13.
The game ended Washington State's fifth consecutive losing season, although this season was an improvement over the team's 6-22 record last year.
USC will likely win a spot among 65 teams in the NCAA Tournament.
