PROVO, Utah (AP) - Rafael Araujo scored 28 points and pulled down 11 rebounds and Brigham Young beat Southern California 85-61 Saturday night.
The Cougars (6-1) won their eighth straight at home and 37th in a row in Provo against non-conference opponents.
Mark Bigelow scored 17 points on three of four 3-pointers as the Cougars again shot well from 3-point range, making 12 of 24. Michael Rose and Kevin Woodberry scored 11 points apiece and Luiz Lemes had 9 assists and 8 rebounds for the Cougars.
Freshman Rodrick Stewart led the Trojans (3-3) with a career-high 14 points, scoring nine in the first four minutes of the second half as USC cut the lead to 11. But that was as close as the Trojans would get.
Both teams had a hard time holding onto the ball, turning it over 19 times each. BYU had 27 points off turnovers, while the Trojans scored 15 off BYU turnovers.
BYU shot 53 percent from the field. The Trojans made just 29 percent of their free throws.
Araujo scored 10 points in a 19-1 BYU run when the Cougars held USC without a field goal for 6:20. Rory O'Neill hit a 3-pointer with 4:48 to go in the first half to end the run, and USC trailed at halftime 45-31.
Stewart's previous career high was 10 against Western Michigan on Nov. 21.
