The UC Santa Barbara men's volleyball team trounced the USC Trojans Friday in a three-game match, 30-27, 30-27, 30-20. The win brings the Gauchos to a 7-15 overall record, 4-12 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play. The Trojans fall to 5-15 for the season and 2-12 in conference.
Adam Ulfers had an impressive night, leading the match with 17 kills (.519 percentage) and totaling 4 blocks. Michael Kennedy also had 4 blocks, and a .556 kill percentage, with 7 kills. Nate Wack was big on the Gaucho attack earning 13 kills (.579 percentage). Freshman Bart Kowalski played a key offensive role, with a total of 51 assists for the match. Aaron Mansfield was alive on defense, digging 11 Trojan attacks.
Leading the Trojan offense was Mark Dusharme with 13 kills and a .450 clip. At the net, Chris McKniff lead with 3 blocks. Overall, the Gauchos out-blocked USC 6.5-4.5, and out-hit the Trojans .467 to .265.
