
David Oh Advances To Semifinals Of U.S. Amateur Championship

Oakmont, Penn. - Outgoing USC senior David Oh's march through the field at the 2003 U.S. Amateur Championship continued on Friday as he defeated Bill Haas of Greenville, SC, 2 and 1, to advance to Saturday's semifinals at Oakmont Country Club.
Earlier in the tournament, Oh defeated Trip Kuehne of Dallas, Tex, 3 and 1, in round two, then beat Matt Kohn of Longwood, Fla., 6 and 5, before his upset of Haas.
Oh next will face Australian Nick Flanagan at 9:15 a.m. ET on Saturday.
If Oh advances, he will face the winner of the match play between Lee Williams and Casey Wittenberg.
Fellow Trojan Chris Botsford defeated Kenny Cook of Muncie, Ind, 3 and 2 in the first round, but fell to Lee Williams of Alexander City, Ala., 4 and 3 in round two.
The last Trojan to win the U.S. Amateur was Sam Randolph in 1986.
