
Lindsey Nelson Advances To NCAA Singles Round Of 16

No. 16-ranked USC freshman Lindsey Nelson advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 by beating No. 64 Sarah Foster of Kentucky, 6-4, 6-1, in a second round match of the 2005 NCAA Women's Division I Tennis Singles Championships at Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex on Tuesday (May 23).
Nelson next will face No. 67 Marianna Yuferova of VCU in a Round of 16 match on Wednesday (May 26). Yuferova upset top-ranked Megan Bradley of Miami (Fla.) in the second round, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Nelson, an All-American and All-Pac-10 first team selection in 2005, is 35-7 overall this season.
She is the only Trojan remaining in the NCAA Women's Singles and Doubles competition.
