LOS ANGELES (AP) - Nick Young scored 22 points and Lodrick Stewart, who passed the 1,000 career points scored mark, added 16 points to lead Southern California to a 79-61 victory over Long Beach State Friday.
After dropping their opener the Trojans (3-1) have won three straight. The 49'ers fell to 2-2. Young made eight of 13, including two 3-pointers, as USC defeated the 49'ers for a third straight time.
USC finished the first half on a 5-0 run to take a 33-26 lead at the break. The Trojans then started the second-half on a 7-0 run.
Young's basket with 18:03 remaining gave USC a 39-26 lead. The Trojans increased their lead to 52-36 with 12:49 to play and never looked back.
Taj Gibson had 10 points and 18 rebounds for the Trojans. RouSean Cromwell added 13 points for USC. Dominique Ricks pulled down 13 rebounds and Aaron Nixon scored 13 points to lead the 49'ers.
