
Trojans Go 2-0 To Open USC Fall Tournament

The USC men's volleyball team swept both Cal State Northridge and Pacific on the first day of the 6-team USC Fall Tournament on Friday (Oct. 22) in the Galen Center Pavilion.
All matches were the best of 3 sets, with the first 2 sets played to 25 points and the third set to 15 points. For matches that were decided in 2 sets, teams had the option of playing a non-counting third set.
The Trojans defeated the Matadors, 25-16, 25-19 (and won the third set, 15-9). Troy then beat Pacific, 30-28, 26-14 (but lost the third set, 20-18).
In the day's other matches, Long Beach State beat UC Santa Barbara, 25-22, 25-21 (but lost 15-12 in the third set), UCLA defeated Long Beach State, 24-26, 25-21, 16-14, Cal State Northridge beat Pacific, 25-14, 26-24 (and captured the third set, 15-7) and UC Santa Barbara won over UCLA, 25-22, 17-25, 15-13.
Saturday's (Oct. 23) competition in the Galen Pavilion begins at 9 a.m. with UC Santa Barbara versus Cal State Northridge on Court 1 and Pacific against Long Beach State on Court 2. Then at 10:45 a.m., it's USC playing Long Beach State on Court 1 and UCLA meeting Pacific on Court 2. The 12:30 p.m. matches are the Trojans against UC Santa Barbara on Court 1 and UCLA versus Cal State Northridge on Court 2. At 2:15 p.m., UC Santa Barbara takes on Pacific on Court 1 while Cal State Northridge and Long Beach State play on Court 2. The tourney concludes with USC facing UCLA at 4 p.m. on Court 1.
Admission is free. The Galen Center Pavilion is adjacent to the Galen Center, with the volleyball courts on the upstairs level.
This is the first pre-season tourney for USC. The Trojans then play an alumni match on Nov. 6 before heading to UCLA on Nov. 19 and 20 for the UCLA SAC Tournament, with UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Northridge in the field.
