The 2010-2011 USC swimming and diving season kicked off with the annual Cardinal and Gold Intrasquad exhibition meet, which the Cardinal claimed, 274-262, on Friday (Sept.24) at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.
During a spirited meet that featured not only a host of returning All-Americans and veterans but members of two of the top freshman classes in the country, victory came down to the final men's 400y free relay, which the Cardinal team claimed.
Cardinal senior Presley Bard scored double wins in the 50y free and 50y back while senior Dillon Connolly tripled up in the 50y and 100y breast and the 100y IM for the Cardinal.
Sophomore Haley Anderson posted wins in the 500y free as well as a surprising first in the 100y free for Gold while freshmen Vladimir Morozov (50y free), Dimitri Colupaev (100y free) and Kasey Carlson (50y breast) posted wins for gold as well, among others.
The regular season gets underway next Friday (Oct. 1) when the USC women host Oregon State and UC Davis at noon. The men's squad sees its first action the following week - along with the women's team - at the USC Invitational on Oct. 8.
