Eight-Team USC Men's Volleyball Fall Tournament This Weekend

The USC men's volleyball squad will host the 8-team pre-season USC Fall Tournament this Friday and Saturday (Oct. 14 and 15) in the Galen Center Pavilion.
The Trojans will be joined by Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponents UCLA, Long Beach State, Cal State Northridge, Stanford and Pacific, plus non-conference foes Cal Baptist and Lewis.
Admission is free. The Galen Center Pavilion is adjacent to the Galen Center, with the volleyball courts on the upstairs level.
On Friday at 5 p.m., UCLA faces Cal Baptist on Court 1 while USC and Long Beach State play on Court 2. Then at 6:45 p.m., Lewis plays Cal State Northridge on Court 1 and UCLA meets Long Beach State on Court 2. At 8:30 p.m., Cal State Northridge battles Cal Baptist on Court 1, while the Trojans face Lewis at 9 p.m. in the Galen Center Arena's main court immediately following the Women of Troy's Pac-12 home match against Oregon.
Saturday's competition begins at 8 a.m. with UCLA versus Pacific on Court 1, Long Beach State against Stanford on Court 2 and Lewis facing Cal Baptist on Court 3. Then at 9:45 a.m., it's USC playing Cal State Northridge on Court 1 and Pacific meeting Cal Baptist on Court 2. The 11:15 a.m. matches are the Trojans against Pacific on Court 1 and Lewis versus Stanford on Court 2. At 1 p.m., UCLA takes on Cal State Northridge on Court 1 while Long Beach State and Cal Baptist play on Court 2. The 2:45 p.m. matches see USC meeting UCLA on Court 1, Lewis battling Long Beach State on Court 2 and Cal State Northridge and Stanford on Court 3. At 4:15 p.m., it's Cal State Northridge versus Pacific on Court 1 and Cal Baptist taking on Stanford on Court 2. The tourney concludes at 6 p.m. with USC facing Stanford on Court 1, Lewis playing Pacific on Court 2 and UCLA versus Long Beach State on Court 3.
All matches will be the best of 3 sets, with the first 2 sets played to 25 points and the third set to 15 points. For matches that are decided in 2 sets, teams have the option of playing a non-counting third set.
This is the first 2011-12 pre-season tourney for USC, which advanced to the NCAA Final Four last season for the second time in the past 3 years. The Trojans then play an alumni match on Nov. 5 before heading to UCLA on Nov. 11 and 12 for the UCLA SAC Tournament, with UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Northridge also in the field.
