Freshman Ramsey Sahyoun carded an even round of 72 to pace the USC men's golf team Thursday (Feb. 3) as it remains in the fight for its first title of the season after the second round of the Amer Ari Invitational at the Waikoloa (Hi.) Kings' Course.
The Trojans, who began the day at 17-under with a seven-stroke lead, fell off the pace in the second round and are now in seventh at 13-under 563 (271-292) after a 4-over day. Oklahoma State moved into first at 25-under 551 (278-273). UCLA is second (558) with Texas Tech third (559).
Sahyoun is tied for 18th at 4-under 140 (68-72) to lead USC. His second round included four birdies to offset two bogeys and a double.
Sophomore Martin Trainer is tied for 23rd at 3-under 141 (67-74). He got off to a rough start at 3-over after two holes but finished the final 16 holes at 1-under.
Junior Steve Lim is tied for 38th at 1-under 143 (70-73). He was 1-under for his round - and had strung together an eight-hole stretch at 4-under midway through the round -- until two late bogeys dropped him to above par.
Sophomore T.J. Vogel is tied for 59th at 1-over 145 (72-73) and freshman Jeffrey Kang dropped to a tie for 73rd after a tough second day at 3-over 147 (66-81).
Action concludes Wednesday, beginning at 7:30 a.m. HST.
