Men's volleyballer Murphy Troy and women's golfer Lizette Salas were USC's recipients of the 2010-11 Pac-10 Tom Hansen Conference Medal.
A Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.
The Tom Hansen Conference Medal winners will be honored at the State Farm Pride of the Pac-12 Breakfast held in Los Angeles in conjunction with the Pacific Life Pac-12 Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments next March.
Troy, a two-time All-American first teamer and four-year starting outside/opposite hitter, was the 2011 National and MPSF Player of the Year. He twice led the Trojans to the NCAA Final Four (2009 and 2011). He set USC rally scoring era career records for kills and aces. The native of St. Louis, Mo., was a physics major with a 3.15 GPA.
Salas, USC's first-ever four-time All-American women's golfer, was the 2009 and 2011 Pac-10 Golfer of the Year. She had seven Top 7 finishes in tournaments in 2011 and was ranked as high as No. 2 nationally. In her career, she had 14 rounds in the 60s. She was a member of USC's 2008 NCAA championship team when she was the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year. The Azusa (Calif.) native majored in sociology.

The Tom Hansen Conference Medal was named in honor of Hansen, who served 26 years as commissioner of the Pac-10 Conference, retiring in June of 2009. The award was first named in his honor in 2008-09.
