Freshman Anthony Paolucci is tied for ninth at 1-over par and led No. 3 USC into fourth place after 36 holes of the 66th Annual Western Intercollegiate at the Pasatiempo G.C. in Santa Cruz, Calif.
The Trojans, in their final regular season event, finished the first day at a combined 22-over 722 (358-364). Texas claimed first at 5-over 705 (355-350) with Stanford second at 13-over 713 (353-360) and UCLA third at 15-over 715 (351-364).
Paolucci finished at 1-over 141 (68-73). After opening his first round on the sixth hole with a double bogey, he finished the final 17 holes at 4-under. He had four birdies in the second round, but was derailed a bit by back-to-back doubles on 16 and 17.
Senior Steve Lim is 21st at 5-over 145 (75-70). He had one birdie during his first round before mixing three birdies and three bogeys in his second round.
Junior Sam Smith is tied for 32nd at 7-over 147 (72-75), his first round including four birdies. Sophomore Jeffrey Kang is tied for 32nd at 8-over 148 (68-80). He had eight birdies in the first round to offset two triple bogeys, but was not as efficient in the second round.
Sophomore Ramsey Sahyoun is also tied for 32nd at 8-over 148 (75-73) and had three birdies in each round. Junior Martin Trainer is tied for 39th at 9-over 149 (76-73). He had an eagle on the par 4 17th in the first round.
Final round action begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday (April 15).
