Trojans in fourth, five back of first
Junior Justin Suh and sophomore Cheng Jin both pocketed 4-under rounds to lead the USC men's golf team to fifth on Sunday (Oct. 1) at the Nike Golf Collegiate Invite at the Pumpkin Ridge G.C. in Portland, Ore.
USC combined for a 7-under 277, five back of first-place Oklahoma, three back of Stanford and one behind Vanderbilt.
Suh, who is coming off of a win at the Trinity Forest Invitational as well as back-to-back top 10s to start the season, carded a 67 with an eight-birdie round hindered only by double bogeys on 3 and 5. Jin, looking for his first breakthrough of the young season, turned in a season-best 67, also with eight birdies.
The two are tied for seventh, three off the lead.
Sophomore Kyle Suppa is tied for 28th at even 72 with a two-birdie day, sophomore Ryan Slater is tied for 36th at 1-over 72 while freshman Kaito Onishi is tied for 67th at 6-over 77.
