October 26, 2017 | Women's Rowing, Features
LOS ANGELES--The USC women's rowing team will travel to Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. to compete in the Head of the American Regatta. This regatta kicks off the fall with USC's first competition of the 2017-18 athletic year. The race takes place on Saturday (Oct. 28) and draws some of the top rowing programs from the West Coast.
Â
The Women of Troy, led by new head coach Josh Adam, will race in Women's Collegiate 2- (11:23 a.m.) and Women's Collegiate 8+ (2:11 p.m.) events. Opponents will include fellow Pac-12 members Stanford, California and Washington.
Â
Since arriving at Troy, Adam and his staff have worked to establish a culture of family within the program as well as create a strong platform of rowing fundamentals to build upon throughout the season.
Â
"This will be a great opportunity for us to show some of the aerobic conditioning we've been working on in practices," said Adam. "We've also been working on retooling our biomechanics, so we're excited to see how the technical efficiency and the aerobic efficiency have come together. We're ready to see how well we've mastered those details in a racing scenario."
