Suh Fires 63 To Tie For 2nd At Nike Golf Collegiate Invite

Trojans post 10-under final round, tie for sixth overall.
Junior Justin Suh fired an 8-under 63, his best round as a Trojan, to finish tied for second while leading the USC men's golf team to the best final round at the Nike Golf Collegiate Invite at the Pumpkin Ridge G.C. in Portland, Ore., on Tuesday (Oct. 3).

The Trojans, building off Suh's standout closing round, finished the day at 9-under to finish the tournament tied for sixth at 10-under 842 (277-290-275). Oklahoma won the event at 27-under 825 with Stanford second at 24-under 828.

Suh finished tied with Stanford's Brandon Wu and they were both one stroke behind first-place Norman Xiong of Oregon. Suh pocketed his third straight top 10 finish, sixth top 10 in the last seven dating back to last year, eighth in the last nine in the top 11 and ninth straight in the top 20.

The junior, who won the Trinity Forest Invitational last week with a 10-under 203, climbed up the leaderboard today to post a 12-under 201 (67-71-63), his final round USC's best since Rico Hoey carded the same last year at the Amer Ari Invitational. The last Trojan round lower belongs to Sam Smith, a 62 in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Pullman Regional. Suh's previous best was a 65 at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships.

"My game is feeling great," Suh said. "I'd have to credit course management to my success this week. Besides that, the work we've put into knowing our yardages helped me score at Pumpkin Ridge."
Said USC Coach Chris Zambri: "Justin is playing some of the best golf that I have ever seen, period. He's doing everything at a high level on both the physical and mental side."
Sophomore Cheng Jin tied for 23rd at 2-under 211 (67-74-70) while sophomore Kyle Suppa tied for 33rd at 1-over 214 (71-74-69) after a 2-under final round that saw him birdie five times.

Freshman Kaito Onishi tied for 56th at 8-over 221 (77-71-73) and sophomore Ryan Slater took 61st at 11-over 224 (72-78-74).

Next up for USC is the Bill Cullum Invitational (the Trojans will have individual entrees) and the Trojans will close the fall season a the Saint Mary's Invitational, Nov. 6-8.
