Veteran golfer from New Mexico adds depth to USC squad.
Sam Kim, an Irvine, Calif., native who started for most of two seasons at New Mexico where he posted three top 10s and eight top 25 finishes, will enroll at USC in the fall and be immediately eligible to compete.

Kim joins USC after two seasons in Albuquerque, where he played in 25 tournaments and posted a combined stroke average of 73.59 with 11 rounds in the 60s, including 19 of par or better.

As a freshman, Kim finished with a 73.26 average in 38 rounds with seven rounds under 70, 11 par of better and a season-best second-place finish at the San Diego Classic. He had a stroke average of 73.94 as a sophomore last season, posting a season-best tie for 13th at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate.

Kim prepped at Northwood High, where he earned 2013 AJGA Rolex All-American honorable mention and AJGA Junior All-Star Team honors and was regularly ranked among the top 50 in the National Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings. He won the 2014 U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier (68-69) by eight shots, posting a score of 7- under, won the 2013 Junior All-Star at Cypress Ridge with scores of 69 and 70 to finish at 5- under, claimed the 62nd Annual Gail Stockton Memorial in 2012 with a score of 1- under and also captured the Toyota Tour Cup Series in 2012 with a score of 3- under 69. Kim, a 2015 Orange County Register All-County first teamer, first started playing in tournaments at the age of 4.
