Trojans looking for first win of Fall; Justin Suh after third top 10 finish.
The No. 23 USC men's golf team, led by junior Justin Suh's pair of top 10 finishes this fall including one win, is back at it this week at the Nike Collegiate Invitational, hosted by TCU, in Portland, Ore., Sunday through Tuesday (Oct. 1-3).
Â
The Trojans are led this year by Suh, who is averaging 68.83 in six early season rounds. He won his second career collegiate title last week at the Trinity Forest Invitational at 10-under 203 (67-69-67) after tying for ninth in the season-opener at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invite at even 210 (70-69-71).
Â
Suh now has eight straight top 20 finishes dating back to last season, seven of which have been in the top 11.
Â
Freshman Kaito Onishi is second on the squad in stroke average at 72.00 with a pair of top 28 finishes to his credit.
Â
USC is led this year by its pair of returning starters in Suh, who earned All-American honors his first two years in school, and sophomore Cheng Jin. Both are ranked among the top 50 amateurs in the world.
Â
Also returning from last year is sophomore Kyle Suppa, who saw spot action as a freshman reserve, redshirt sophomore Ryan Slater (who sat out last year), and redshirt sophomore Ing Ratanavadi, another reserve.
The Trojans welcome four newcomers, including freshmen Onishi, Owen Calvin-Smith and Issei Tanaba and junior transfer Sam Kim, who comes to USC after two years at New Mexico.
