Suh Fires 69 To Lead Trojans In Nike Collegiate Second Round

Senior is tied for ninth, USC tied for sixth entering final round.
Senior Justin Suh fired a 1-under 69 for his third round under 70 in five starts this year, leading No. 3 USC's second-round efforts at the Nike Collegiate Invitational at Colonial C.C. in Fort Worth, Texas, on Monday (Oct. 1).
The Trojans improved by two strokes in the second round and now sit at a combined 10-over 570 (286-284), tied for sixth and 11 back of first-place Duke.
Suh is tied for ninth at 1-under 139 (70-69), two back of an eight-way tie for first. The seniors turned even and was 1-over through 12 but birdied 13 and 17 to get into the red. Suh will be after his seventh career individual win after five as a junior and one as a sophomore.
Freshman Charlie Reiter keeps churning along with solid play and is tied for 17th at 1-over 141 (69-72) after a three-birdie, five-bogey round.
Sophomore Issei Tanabe ran into some troubles after his 2-under first round and is now tied for 38th at 6-over 146 (68-78).
Junior Ryan Slater is tied for 64th at 11-over 151 (79-72) while junior Kyle Suppa is tied for 72nd at 14-over 154 (83-71), both players bouncing back after first-round struggles. Slater closed with birdies on 17 and 18 while Suppa had two birdies on the day.
USC will begin the final round at 5:30 a.m. PT with Stanford and Florida.
