Cukierman Falls To Top-Ranked Chrysochos In Oracle ITA Fall Singles Final

Sophomore played a tough match with the nation’s top gun.
SURPRISE, ARIZ. — USC sophomore Daniel Cukierman went toe-to-toe with the top-ranked player in the nation to decide the Oracle ITA National Fall Championship today in Surprise, Ariz. The battle for the singles title was a tough one, with both players making great shots to put pressure on the other. In the end, it was Wake Forest's Petros Chrysochos who dug in for the win, posting a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Cukierman to claim the crown.
Ranked #31 in the nation, Cukierman got up several breaks in the second set to threaten the nation's top player. But Chrysochos regrouped and answered back, storming back to claim the second set and decide things. In his second season as a Trojan, Cukierman now grips a 16-4 singles record this fall. Last month, he claimed the Southern California Intercollegiate singles title to stand as one of four Trojans to win singles titles this fall. Laurens Verboven won the Oracle ITA Masters crown; Logan Smith won the ITA Southwest Regional title; Cukierman won the SoCal Intercollegiate; and Jack Jaede won the Jack Kramer Collegiate title.
