USC Men's Volleyball Concludes Regular Season With Loss At No. 13 Concordia

Trojans now play at Pepperdine on April 14 in MPSF tourney quarterfinal match.
Raymond Barsemian had 17 kills to lead the No. 13-ranked Concordia men's volleyball team to a 25-22, 19-25, 30-28, 25-14 regular season-ending home victory over unranked USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Saturday (April 7) in Irvine, Calif.
Concordia improved to 15-14 overall and 5-7 in the MPSF. USC fell to 7-19 overall and 3-9 in the MPSF.
USC now will compete in the upcoming MPSF Tournament as the No. 6 seed, playing at No. 3 seed Pepperdine in a quarterfinal match on April 14 at 7 p.m. PT. The USC-Pepperdine winner will advance to the MPSF semis at No. 1 BYU on April 19, with the final there set for April 21.
Jack Wyett led USC with 17 kills, while Ryan Moss added 12 kills, 8 digs and 5 blocks, Gianluca Grasso had 11 kills and 8 digs, Gert Lisha had 6 digs and 4 blocks and Cole Paxson had 8 digs.
Jonathan Predney added 12 kills for Concordia and Jacob Weiser had 13 digs.
Concordia hit .265 to USC's .231. The Eagles served 6 aces, while the Trojans had 11 blocks.
Concordia used a 3-0 run in the first set to go up 11-8 and USC couldn't catch up as the Eagles served 3 aces in the set. The Trojans built a 7-4 lead off a 3-point run in the second set and then pulled away while hitting .375. USC overcame a 3-0 start by Concordia in the third set to tie it at 7-7 and the match stayed tight until the Eagles scored the final 2 points in extra time (Concordia hit .429 in the set). In the fourth set, Concordia tallied back-to-back points to move ahead 8-6 and steadily extended the lead en route to capturing the match.
