Tanabe 68 Leads No. 3 Trojans In Nike Collegiate First Round

Reiter and Suh join Tanabe in top 10 after 18 holes.
Sophomore Issei Tanabe made his season debut with a 2-under 68 while freshman Charlie Reiter and senior Justin Suh joined him in the top 10, leading No. 3 USC after 18 holes of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational at Colonial C.C. in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sunday (Sept. 30).
The Trojans, looking to start the season with back-to-back top 2 finishes, combined for a 6-over 286 first round, tied for seventh, five back of leader Vanderbilt and one of 10 teams within eight shots of first.
Tanabe's first round today was one off his career best round as a Trojan and left him two shots off the lead. He was 4-under through 13 holes before finishing with his 68.
Reiter continues his strong start to his USC career, posting a 1-under 69 to tie for fifth, mixing four birdies and three bogeys, starting and ending his day with birdies. It is his second straight round under 70,
Suh's par 70 is good for a tie for eighth, the All-American posting four birdies as he looks for his second straight top 10 to start the season.
Junior Rylan Slater is tied for 70th (9-over 70) while junior Kyle Suppa is 75th (13-over 83).
USC will tee off at 6 a.m. (PT) in Monday's second round with Florida and Stanford.
