USC Falls To California In Seventh-Place Match At Cypress Point

Kaito Onishi secures tie for USC's lone point.
Junior Kaito Onishi eked out a tie while senior Kyle Suppa and Cameron Henry fell in 1up matches as the USC men's golf team lost 5.5-0.5 in the seventh place match of the Cypress Point Classic at the Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, Calif., on Tuesday (Oct. 29).
USC, in its final fall event, lost a 2-1 decision to host Stanford in the first round of fourball Monday morning and lost by the same score to Alabama in the foursome consolation finals Monday afternoon.
In the singles match Tuesday, Onishi tied Cal's Connor Golembski for USC's lone half point. Suppa fell 1up to Finigan Tilly and Henry lost to James Song by the same score.
Freshman Yuxin Lin fell to Kaiwen Liu, 2up, junior Issei Tanabe lost to Jamie Cheatham 2&1 and junior Leon D'Souza lost his match with Kento Yamawaki, 5&4.
