Rain Puts A Damper On Outdoor Opener In Long Beach

Kim set PR in hammer throw, places 8th

Due to the rain over the weekend, the Trojans saw limited action at the Beach Opener in Long Beach, Calif. from March 1-2. USC had athletes compete in the men's hammer throw and men's and women's 1500m races, before Director of Track & Field Carly Smith Gilbert decided that due to extenuating weather circumstances, including flooded warm-up fields, the team would opt out of the remainder of the meet.

Kim took eighth in the men's hammer throw on March 1 with a PR of 162-7 (49.55m) which came in his final attempt. Kim also had a mark of 158-9 (48.40m) in the fourth round which had also topped his previous best of 158.6 (48.31m) coming into this season.

On March 2, Jennifer Daly placed third in the women's 1500m race with a time of 4:49.72, while Brynn Sauer took 12^th with a time of 5:01:39 and sophomore Sydney Tullai placed 19^th with a time of 5:06.84. In the men's 1500m race, John Dempsey place 11^th with a time of 4:07.86 and David Hulme took 20^th with a PR of 4:11.62.
