USC Second In 200 Medley Relay To Open Pac-12 Championships
March 06, 2019 | Men's Swimming & Diving, Features
Meet continues Thursday through Saturday.
USC's 200y medley relay finished second, just 0.01 off its season best NCAA A time, to open the 2019 Pac-12 Men's Swimming Championships in Federal Way, Wash., on Wednesday (March 6).
Troy, including one event of diving from last week and two relays tonight, finished Wednesday with 99 points, tied for fifth with Utah. Arizona State is first with 187 points followed by Stanford (160), California (137) and Arizona (129).
The session started with the Trojans' second-place finish in the 200y medley relay as seniors Patrick Mulcare, Carsten Vissering, Kyle Grissom and sophomore Nikola Miljenic hit the wall in 1:23.85, 0.41 back of Cal and just off the squad's season best.
Vissering, whose 22.87 50 breast leg led the field, is the lone swimmer remaining from the relay that won the NCAA Championships last year with a 1:21.82. Miljenic's 18.65 50 free anchor was second-fastest of the heat.
USC's 800y free relay of freshman Alexei Sancov, Mulcare and freshmen Victor Johansson and Owen Kao finished seventh in 6:25.24.
The meet continues Thursday through Saturday with prelims at 11 a.m. each day and finals at 6 p.m.
