The USC junior is the two-time Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year and receives her second-career All-America certificate
GRAND LAKE, Colo. – USC women's lacrosse junior midfielder Kerrigan Miller (Bayport, N.Y.) was named to the 2019 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-America second team on Wednesday, June 12. It is Miller's second-career All-America nod following her third-team honor as a sophomore in 2018.
Miller is one of 48 NCAA Division I student-athletes named to the three IWLCA All-America teams (16 to each team).
Miller is the two-time Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year and received her second IWLCA All-West/Midwest region first-team honor this spring. She is also a two-time member of the Pac-12 All-Conference first team and became the first player in league history to be named for the both the Pac-12's offensive and defensive player of the week honors.
This season, Miller led the Pac-12 with 41 caused turnovers (2.05 ctpg) and was fourth in the league with 56 ground balls (2.80 gbpg). She ranked second on the team in ground balls and was also second for draw controls (52). Miller scored 22 goals and recorded seven assists in 2019 and was a major catalyst in the Trojans' transition game on both offense and defense. She moved into USC's top six for career points (132) and finished the season sixth for career assists (38); fifth for goals (94); fourth in draw controls (144); third in ground balls (142); and second for caused turnovers (112).
Miller receives the Trojans' eighth all-time IWLCA All-America nod and is the first Trojan to land on the second team. Last year, she became USC's second All-American midfielder. Amanda Johansen—who was named to the third team in 2016—is the other. The Trojans have had two defenders chosen for All-America honors: Courtney Tarleton (2016 first team) and Lydia Sutton (2017 third team). Attacker Michaela Michael holds the other three USC All-America certificates. She was named to the third team in 2015 as the first-ever USC All-American and received first-team notice in 2016 and 2017.
USC won the Pac-12's regular-season crown with a 9-1 league mark and then claimed wins over California and Colorado to win the Pac-12 tournament. It was the Trojans' third league crown following MPSF championships in 2016 and '17. Seventh-year head coach Lindsey Munday was named the Pac-12 Coach of the Year and Miller was awarded the Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year honor for the second season in a row. The Trojans received the program's fourth NCAA bid and faced Denver in the first round, but fell in a narrow 11-10 overtime decision to the Pioneers.
