Freshman Yuxin Lin leads Trojans in collegiate debut, tying for 12th.
Freshman Yuxin Lin completed an impressive collegiate debut tied for 12th while junior Issei Tanabe carded his second straight 2-under as the No. 11 USC men's golf team finished tied for fifth on the final day of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate on Sunday (Sept. 15) at the Mirabel G.C. in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Trojans posted their third straight day under par to close with a 15-under 825 (272-274-279), tied with Utah. Arizona State won the event at 38-under 802 while Arizona was second (-31) and Clemson third (-29) in the 15-team field.
Lin, from Beijing, tied for 12th at 7-under 203 (66-68-69), two off a tie for third, seven out of first. He birdied three times in his final round, including one on 17 to get under par for the day.
Tanabe tied for 21st at 4-under 206 (70-68-68). He had four birdies today including on 16 and 17 to secure another 68.
Senior Kyle Suppa (71-69-70) and sophomore Charlie Reiter (69-69-72) tied for 37th at par 210. Junior transfer Leon D'Souza tied for 57th at 5-over 215 (67-73-75).
Sophomore Cameron Henry, playing at the Mea Lanakila Individual, tied for 13th at 5-over 221 (68-77-76). Freshman Tyler Guo was 35th.
