USC Women's Tennis Falls to UCLA in Non-Conference Match

The USC women's tennis team lost a non-conference match to crosstown rival No. 8 UCLA 5-2 today (Feb. 28) at Marks Stadium. The No. 31 ranked Women of Troy are now 6-4 on the season.
The afternoon began with doubles as the Trojan pair of Cayetano/Kulikov defeated the No. 1 ranked doubles team in the nation in UCLA's Bolton/Hart 6-1 on court one. USC's Branstine/Saca fell 6-1 to UCLA's Forbes/Johnson on court two. Then UCLA took the doubles point as Goulak/Altick beat USC's Jaeger/Willson 6-4 on court three. USC entered doubles at an 0-1 deficit.
UCLA's No. 19 Jada Hart claimed the first singles win with her victory over USC's Sydney Van Alphen 6-2, 6-2 on court three. Bruin No. 12 Elysia Bolton notched another Bruin win as she defeated USC's No. 25 Angela Kulikov 6-3, 6-2 on court one.
Trojan Ana Neffa tallied the first USC win of the day as she beat UCLA's No. 114 Annette Goulak 7-6 (6), 6-2 on court five. Bruin Sasha Vagramov beat USC's Constance Branstine 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the match for UCLA.
Although the match had already been won, the remaining matches were played out. USC's Eryn Cayetano had a major victory on court two as she upset No. 8 Abbey Forbes 7-6 (1), 1-6, 6-4 on court two. Bruin Abi Altick closed out the match with a win on court four against USC's Danielle Willson 4-6, 7-6 (5) 6-3.
USC will take to the court again tomorrow (Feb. 29) as they challenge Loyola Marymount at 12 p.m.
