Jones wins 400m, Mallard and Ojora better their school records
Jan'Taijah Jones won the women's 400m, Christine M. Mallard bettered her USC freshman record in the same event and Tade Ojora bettered his school record in the men's 60m hurdles to highlight the Trojans' action during the first day of the Tiger Paw Invite at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex  in Clemson, S.C. today (Feb. 10). Â

- The junior Jones won the women's 400m with a time of 51.89, 0.007 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Graduate student Bailey Lear had a time of 52.24 to place seventh. The freshman Mallard had a PR and bettered her freshman record in the 400m with a time of 52.42 to finish ninth, 0.003 out of eighth place. Mallard moved into 10th place on USC's indoor 400m list.
- Sophomore Johnny Brackins Jr. took second in the men's long jump with an indoor PR of 26-1.75 (7.97m). That jump moved Brackins Jr. from sixth to fourth on USC's all-time list. His jump moves him to sixth on the NCAA descending order list entering this week's action and including the Tiger Paw Invite. Freshman JC Stevenson placed fourth with a best jump of 25-0.75 (7.64m).
- The graduate student Ojora placed third in the men's 60m hurdles final with a time of 7.66. Ojora broke his school record with a time of 7.53 in the semifinals and ran 7.80 in the prelims. Ojora's 7.53 time also is the NCAA leader and ranks tied for sixth in the world. He originally set the USC record last week with a time of 7.58.  Brackins Jr. had a PR of 7.61 in the semifinals, but did not compete in the finals. The 7.61 time betters his third-place standing on USC's all-time list. He had a time of 7.65 in the prelims to get the day started.
- Freshman Justin Braun won his heat and placed seventh overall in the men's 400m race with a PR of 45.99. Braun bettered his sixth-place standing on USC's all-time list.
