Boogie Ellis' Career Game Lifts USC Men's Basketball Over Stanford, 85-75

LOS ANGELES — Boogie Ellis recorded career highs in points (33), assists (seven) and tied his career high in 3-pointers (six) as USC men's basketball defeated Stanford, 85-75, on Saturday night.
Ellis eclipsed his previous scoring best of 31 points in the Trojans' 77-64 win over No. 4 UCLA on Jan. 26. The senior guard's 33 points were the most scored by a Trojan in a game since Onyeka Okongwu 33 on Nov. 19, 2019.
USC (19-8, 11-5 Pac-12) has won 14 straight games at home and remains third in the conference standings. On a night when cardinal 3-point foam fingers were distributed in the lower bowl of the Galen Center, the Trojans hit a season-high 13 3-pointers against Stanford (11-16, 5-11 Pac-12).
Drew Peterson, fresh from his career-high 30-point game in Thursday's win over California, scored 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting with seven rebounds.
Reese Dixon-Waters, who missed the last four games due to injury, added 12 points with two steals off the bench. Joshua Morgan also returned from injury after sitting the previous four games and had four points, three rebounds and two assists.

The Trojans made just one of their first six shots and fell into a 9-2 hole early before USC went on an 16-2 run to take control of a game. Stanford had cut the Trojans' lead to two points with 2:36 remaining in the half, but Ellis hit two 3-pointers that sparked an 11-0 burst to give USC an 11-point halftime lead.

USC steadily held its advantage for the entire second half and led by no fewer than seven points. Ellis scored 18 of his points in the final period and went a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line. The Trojans shot 53.8 percent in the second half.
Harrison Ingram scored 15 points for Stanford, which nearly ended UCLA's home winning streak at 21 on Thursday. It was the only regular-season meeting between the Trojans and Cardinal.
