USC's Malia Nam Ties For 7th At Valley Invitational

Senior Malia Nam closed to within a stroke of first midway through the final round of the Valley Invitational at the Bakersfield (Calif.) C.C. on Tuesday (Feb. 7) before finishing tied for 7th, her first top 10 this year.
Nam, playing as an individual entry, wrapped the 54-hole tournament at 7-over 223 (76-72-75), four stroke back of the first-place winner.
She opened with a birdie on 15 in the shotgun start and got to 2-under through nine holes, but encountered some troubles on her second nine en route to her 3-over final round.
Nam and the Trojans next turn their attention to the Therese Hession Regional Challenge , set for Sunday through Tuesday (Feb. 12-14) at the Palos Verdes G.C.
