No. 8 USC Women’s Tennis Set for Three-Match Weekend in Los Angeles

Trojans to face UCLA in Westwood on Friday before returning to host UC Santa Barbara and CSUN for a doubleheader on Saturday at Marks Stadium.
Corrections: The UCLA match has moved to 12:30 p.m. on Friday March 1. UC Santa Barbara has been rescheduled to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 4. CSUN has been postponed.
LOS ANGELES – The No. 8 USC women's tennis team is scheduled for an action-packed weekend in Los Angeles as the Women of Troy travel to UCLA on Friday, March 1 (12:30 a.m.) and host UC Santa Barbara on Monday, March 4 (10:30 a.m.) at Marks Stadium.
USC (7-3) wraps their non-conference slate this weekend, with the Trojans set to host Pac-12 rivals Washington and Washington State the following weekend.
An undefeated weekend for the Trojans would help USC head coach Alison Swain surpass the 100 dual match wins mark at USC. Trojan fifth-year Eryn Cayetano is also three singles victories away from 100 career singles wins.

RANKINGS:
The Women of Troy enter this week ranked No. 8 in the country (ITA Computerized Rankings Feb. 27). Just last week, USC checked in at No. 5 in the polls. Currently, four Trojans appear in the national singles rankings, with sophomore Emma Charney leading USC at No. 24 and junior Grace Piper locked in the No. 43 ranking. Trojan junior Snow Han claimed No. 60 and fifth-year Eryn Cayetano sits at No. 90.
The Women of Troy also boasts two ranked duos in No. 8 Cayetano and Charney and No. 29 Parker Fry and Grace Piper.
SO FAR THIS SEASON:
The Women of Troy opened the 2024 season with a pair of home dual matches, defeating LMU (7-0) and UC Irvine (4-0) during a season-opening doubleheader on January 18.
USC then hit the road for ITA Kickoff Weekend in Knoxville, Tenn., defeating No. 21 Miami (4-2) and No. 17 Tennessee (4-2).
Following a fantastic kickoff weekend, Trojan sophomore Emma Charney was named the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Charney went undefeated in singles and doubles in Knoxville and delivered both clinchers.
USC traveled south on Saturday, Feb. 3, for a dual against No. 20 San Diego. The No. 16 ranked Women of Troy won three singles matches against the Toreros but ultimately fell 4-3 to USD, dropping to 4-1 on the season.
At the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, USC went 1-2 in matches, falling to then No. 1 UNC before rebounding to beat No. 21 ranked Washington. The Trojans capped their time at ITA's with a 4-2 loss to No. 6 Pepperdine.
USC bounced back on the road to wrap up February play, downing Michigan State 6-1 before upsetting No. 2 Michigan 4-1. Trojan Grace Piper was named the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week after going 4-0 in singles and doubles (combined) and clinching the Trojans match against the No. 2 Wolverines.
SCOUTING UCLA, UCSB:
No. 36 UCLA is 4-3 on the season after a recent 7-0 sweep over Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Tar Heels boast two ITA-ranked singles players, with Freshman Bianca Jolie Fernandez leading at No. 87. Following Fernandez is No. 124 Elise Wagle. UCLA does not hold any ranked doubles pair.
No. 58 UC Santa Barbara is 6-5 on the season after a 6-1 loss to Cal on Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Gauchos hold one ITA-ranked singles player, Junior Amelia Horner, leading at No. 62. Santa Barbara has one ranked doubles pair, Amelia Horner, and graduate student Kira Rueter, sitting at No. 35.
