NAPA, Calif. - No. 9 USC women's golf took home its third team crown (first in the Spring) as the Trojans shared the team title with Northwestern at four-over-par at the Chevron Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort and Spa.
Sophomore Catherine Park carried USC in round three. She posted an under-par outing for the third straight time this tournament, leading her into a tie for the individual tournament title. Park continues to make her mark on the golf world, picking up her second tournament title this season (Stanford Intercollegiate; Oct. 20-22).
Park boasted four birdies for the afternoon as she made a run at the tournament title with three in the late stages on Holes 14, 15, and 17. Her fourth today pushed her to 16 birdies in just 54 holes of work. That mark led her to a seven-under-par tournament, as she finalized her score with a 70 on the final day.
Junior Amari Avery finished second on the squad, just outside the top ten, in a tie for 11th. Avery coasted into her position, even for the day, after starting with two bogeys, followed by birdying both 16 and 18. The junior compiled a 72-73-72 tournament, as she was one over par.
Senior Brianna Navarrosa had an up-and-down round on the final day, posting a 77 (+5). She rounded out her tournament at six-over-par, posting back-to-back 77s after opening the Showdown with a 68. Navarrosa finished in a tie for 32nd.
Junior Xin (Cindy) Kou was the last counting score as she tied for 38th after posting a 76 on the last day. Kou ended up seven-over-par after a 73-74-76 tournament. Senior Christine Wang ended up tied for 65th, as she was 13-over-par after compiling a 229 (74-74-81).
USC is officially done with the regular season and now has the task of defending its Pac-12 title, as it will compete in the Pac-12 Championship starting Apr. 21 through Apr. 23 at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course in Pullman, Washingon.
