No. 11 USC Women’s Tennis Sweeps Penn 4-0

Trojans advance to ITA Kickoff Weekend Championship final.
LOS ANGELES – No. 11 USC women's tennis cruised to victory Friday afternoon, downing Penn 4-0 in the first round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament at Marks Stadium.
The Women of Troy made quick work of the Quakers, with their eyes set on an ITA 2025 National Team Indoor Championship bid. USC's stars led the way in doubles action, with No. 7 Grace Piper and Lily Fairclough winning 6-0 on center court, followed quickly by Emma Charney and Parker Fry with a 6-2 victory on court three.
With a one-point advantage on the board, the Women of Troy sailed in singles play, sweeping the first set on all six courts. No. 37 Piper continued her impressive form, defeating No. 27 Sabine Rutlauka 6-0, 6-4 on center court. No.45 Charney was hot on her heels, downing No. 42 Esha Velaga 6-3, 6-2 on court two to bring the Trojans within one point of victory. However, it was freshman phenom Jana Hossam who sealed the deal for USC, winning 6-4, 6-2 on court five to improve to 12-4 this year in singles.
With the victory, USC advances to tomorrow's regional championship final match, where the Women of Troy will face the No. 13 Auburn Tigers. The match will begin at 12:30 p.m.
