POSTSEASON PICTURE - The Trojans made the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 10 seed. With a win over the No. 7 seed, Northwestern, the Trojans would advance to the quarterfinals and face No. 2 Michigan State on Sunday. Looking ahead to the NCAA Tournament, the Trojans sit at No. 60 in the RPI. Last season, all ten teams that made the Big Ten Tournament, also received an NCAA Tournament bid.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS NW - Last season's match between the Trojans and Wildcats in Evanston marked the first ever meeting between the programs. Maria Alagoa opened the scoring with a goal in the 14th minute. Northwestern would answer in the 53rd minute, but Ines Derrien would be taken down in the box just six minutes later. Derrien scored the game winning PK goal and the Trojans won 2-1.
LAST WEEK - The Trojans played in a hard fought battle against crosstown rival No. 18 UCLA on Sunday, with the result being a 0-0 tie. The physical game was highlighted by an incredible performance from Trojans goalkeeper Bella Grust. The Bruins were able to get 19 shots off, 7 of which were on goal. Grust made all 7 saves which tied her season high, and stopped multiple breakaway opportunities before the Bruins could get a shot off.
RAWLINSON STADIUM - USC made a big investment in the women's soccer program with the construction of Rawlinson Stadium. The $38 million project was announced in 2023 and broke ground on April 9, 2024, with construction finishing this summer. The stadium was built over the site of the former McAlister Field and has a maximum capacity of 2,500 fans. USC held a ribbon cutting ceremony prior to the season opener against CBU on August 17.
TIE VS IOWA - USC played to a draw with then-No. 5 Iowa two weeks ago, scoring twice in the first half, only for the Hawkeyes to come back with two goals of their own in the second half. The tie snapped a three-game losing streak.
