
No. 8 USC’s Jazzy Davidson Named Big Ten Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week

Davidson led USC offensively during the Trojans win over No. 9 NC State on Sunday afternoon.
LOS ANGELES – One week into her USC women's basketball career, Jazzy Davidson has landed herself on the first Big Ten weekly honor roll of the season with her selection as Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Davidson was named the Co-Freshman of the Week alongside Purdue's Hila Karsh.
The Clackamas, Ore. native becomes the ninth all-time Trojan to earn conference Freshman of the Week honors.
In her USC debut, Davidson pinned up 14 points on New Mexico State. She followed it up with a 21-point performance against No. 9 NC State and logged five blocks for the Trojans.
Through two games, Davidson is averaging 17.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 4.0 APG and leads USC in minutes played at 32.3 (avg).
The newcomer put up 14 points (second leading scorer), had five rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in USC's season opener. She also shot 6-7 from the free throw line and drew a team-leading five fouls.
Against NC State, Davidson put up a career high 21 points, had five blocks, four assists, three steals and was perfect from the free throw line (2-2). Davidson delivered the winning basket in USC's victory over NC State as the freshman made a fast break driving layup with 8 seconds remaining in the game.
USC's 2-0 start to the season has the Trojans ranked No. 8 in the national AP poll this week, marking a 10-spot improvement from its No. 18 preseason rank.
Davidson and the No. 8 Trojans continue their season's work with a marquee neutral site game on Saturday, Nov. 15 against No. 2 South Carolina at 6:00 p.m. at Crypto Arena.
