November 10, 2025 | Women's Tennis
LOS ANGELES - USC Women's Tennis divided and conquered this weekend, as Trojans competed in both the ITA DI Women's West Sectional Championships and the ITA Conference Master's Championships. Two Trojans earned NCAA Singles bids, while a second Trojan duo qualified for the upcoming NCAA Doubles Championships in Orlando.
At the ITA DI Women's West Sectional Championships in Seattle, freshman Krisha Mahendran defeated Washington's Alexia Jacobs and Kendall Kovick of BYU to reach the quarterfinals and secure her place in the NCAA Singles Championships. Junior Immi Haddad took down Josie Usereau of Arizona, but fell in a third set tiebreaker to Washington's Carter Reece in the Round of 16, short of NCAA qualification.
On the doubles side, Mahendran paired up with NCAA singles qualifier Jana Hossam. The duo upset the No. 1 seeded team in the Round of 16 and followed it up with a straight set victory to advance to the semifinals and earn an NCAA bid in the process.
Freshman Eugenia Zozyaya was the lone Trojan competing at the ITA Master's event in San Diego, Calif., where she stormed all the way to the final. The Oveido, Spain native did not drop a single set in the first four rounds of the tournament. Despite falling in the final to Aysegul Mert (Georgia) 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), she too punched her ticket into the NCAA Championships.
All in all, USC will send six players to the NCAA championships with Emma Charney and Hossam joining Mahendran and Zozaya on the singles side. In doubles, Mahendran and Hossam and Lily Fairclough and Dani Borruel are all set to compete in the pairs competition. This marks a record number of Trojans competing in the NCAA Individual Championships and shows off the young talent head coach Alison Swain has recruited, with all three Trojan freshmen qualifying within the first three months of joining the squad. The NCAA Individual Championships will take place from Nov. 18-23 in Orlando, Fla.
