Trojans host first Big Ten Conference duals at Marks Stadium.
LOS ANGELES – After making a splash in its first weekend of Big Ten Conference play, No. 16 USC women's tennis prepares to host back-to-back matches against Michigan State on Saturday and No. 5 Michigan on Sunday at David X. Marks Tennis Stadium.
The Women of Troy will begin the weekend against MSU on Saturday, March 22 at noon PT. Sunday's match against the No. 5 ranked Wolverines is set to begin at 1 p.m. PT.
USC opened conference play last weekend on the road, defeating former Pac-12 foes No. 19 Washington and Oregon to improve to 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in Big Ten play. This weekend will be the first conference games the team plays at home this year, where they are 6-2 overall this season.
USC will need a series of strong performances across the six courts to remain undefeated in conference play. No. 46 senior Grace Piper leads the team in the latest round of national rankings, followed by No. 69 Emma Charney and No. 82 Immi Haddad. On the doubles side, No. 5 Piper and sophomore Lily Fairclough cracked the top five for the first time in their respective careers.
The Women of Troy will face stiff competition against Michigan, who boast five girls in the singles rankings, led by No. 3 Julia Fliegner. The match will also feature a sibling rivalry between Emma Charney and her sister, No. 22 Piper Charney. The Wolverines also have three ranked doubles pairs. Michigan State does not have any ranked players.
USC last faced Michigan last season, beating the then-No. 2 ranked Wolverines in Ann Arbor.
