USC Men’s Tennis Dunks Ducks in Conference Victory

LOS ANGELES – USC (10-6, 4-2 Big Ten) men's tennis bounced back with a win after besting Big Ten Conference rival Oregon (9-10, 1-6 Big Ten) 4-2, on Sunday, March 30 at David X. Marks Stadium.
Troy got out to an early lead as the Trojans claimed the doubles point over Oregon. First, Matteo Morazzi and Nathan Trouve downed Ducks Vlad Breazu and Clement Lemire 6-1 on court three to put USC within striking distance. On center court, Tristan Bradley and Peter Makk followed it up with a swift 6-2 win over Oregon's Lenn Luemkemann and Matthew Burton to earn the doubles point.
Moving into singles play, Oregon would strike back, with Matthew Burton beating Morazzi 6-4, 6-3 on court four to even the match. Karl Lee would get a win at singles No. 3 just seconds later, downing Oregon's Clement Lemire 6-2, 6-4 to put USC back in front.
Freshman Niels Hoffmann extended USC's lead with a win on court six as he beat Oregon's Cooper Errey in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The Ducks landed one last punch as Lachlan Robertson bested USC's Connor Church 6-4, 6-3 to bring the match score to 3-2 in favor of the Trojans. Senior No. 30 Peter Makk stepped up to deliver the clincher at center court, beating No. 99 Lenn Luemkemann in a three-set thriller 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.
USC is back in action on Tuesday evening for a 5 p.m. PT Crosstown Showdown as the Trojans welcome UCLA for a rescheduled conference dual.
