
Trojans Win Three Events, Set Three 44 Farms Team Invitational Meet Records

Whyte posts world-leading outdoor 200m time
Madison Whyte led a 1-2-3 sweep in the women's 200m dash, Racquil Broderick won the men's discus throw competition and Ashley Erasmus claimed the women's shot put title to lead the Trojans during the first day of the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational being held at E.B. Cushing Stadium in College Station, Texas today (April 11). All three of the Trojan winners set meet records.
- Sophomore Madison Whyte led the Trojans to a 1-2-3 finish in the women's 200m dash with a PR, NCAA-leading, outdoor world-leading, meet-record and facility-record time of 22.32 (+1.9). Her time broke the previous facility record of 22.54 set by Trojan great TeeTee Terry in 2021. Junior transfer Dajaz DeFrand was second with a time of 22.66 (+1.9) which ranks tied for sixth on the NCAA descending order list and junior Jassani Carter had a season-best time of 22.75 (+1.9) to rank ninth on the NCAA list this season. Freshman Tiana Eyakpobeyan ran a PR of 23.09 (+1.3) to finish fifth. There were 66 athletes competing today in the women's 200m.
- Sophomore Racquil Broderick won the men's discus throw competition with a best mark of 204-10 (62.44m). He had a strong series of throws with all but his first attempt of 189-8 begin good enough to win the title. The second-best thrower had a mark of 196-11. Broderick broke his own meet record of 203-1 (61.90m) set last season.
- Freshman Ashley Erasmus won the women's shot put competition with a best mark of 57-10.75 (17.63m). She broke the meet record which had stood since 2021. Erasmus has now won all four shot put competitions she has competed in during the outdoor season.
- Junior JC Stevenson placed fifth in the men's long jump with a best leap of 24-9.25/7.55m (+0.6). It was his first long jump competition of the season. Last season he opened with a best jump of 22-8 and went on to win the NCAA title in the event with a jump of 26-11.75.
- Freshman multi-event specialist Falyn Lott placed seventh in the women's 400m hurdles with a PR of 59.86. Her time was tops among freshmen at the meet.
- Freshman Avery Lewis placed seventh in the women's long jump with a wind-legal season-best jump of 19-7.00/5.97m (+0.5).
