August 24, 2025 | Women's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – The No. 5 USC women's soccer team continued its hot start to the season on Sunday, shutting out New Mexico State 4-0 to move to 3-0 on the year.
USC had four different goal scorers, with Ines Derrien and Jaiden Anderson each recording a goal and two assists in the game. The Trojans outshot New Mexico State 35-2 in the game to post their second 4-0 shutout of the year.
It took just under three minutes for USC to get on the board in the opening half, with Faith George finishing a feed from Derrien at the top of the penalty area. In the ninth minute it was Anderson who doubled the advantage, with Alison Hou and Derrien combining on the assist.
Hana Mizumoto made it 3-0 in favor of the Trojans before the break, collecting a giveaway from the Aggies and working her way into the box where she fired a shot through traffic for her first career goal in the 35th minute. USC had 17 shots and five on target in the first half.
It was more of the same in the second half as the Trojans put up 18 shots with five again on frame. Derrien scored the final goal of the day in the 66th minute, with Anderson weaving her way up the middle of the field and sliding a pass ahead for Derrien, who took a touch around the keeper and finished in front of an empty net.
The Aggies also only had one corner kick to go along with their two shots, with USC holding 70% of the possession.
