Stadlman Breaks 400m Freshman Record on Day One of Don Kirby Elite Invite

Five Trojans finished in the top-five of their event
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The USC track and field team returned to the Albuquerque Convention Center on Friday for the first day of the Don Kirby Elite Invite. Madison Whyte took the sole event win of the day in the women's 200m.
Stadlman kicked off the day in record-breaking fashion in the men's 400m. His time of 45.51 broke the indoor 400m freshman record previously set by Zach Shinnick in 2018 at 45.81. Stadlman holds the fourth-fastest time in the event in the NCAA this season, setting him up for an appearance at indoor national championships.
Whyte returned to Albuquerque ready for more after last weekend's NCAA-leading performance in the 400m. In the 200m, she ran the third-fastest time in school history at 22.66 to win the event, slotting in at No. 4 in the NCAA this season.
- Christine M. Mallard and Rachael Uvieghara joined Whyte in the top five of the women's 200m. Mallard ran a time of 23.13 to place third while Uvieghara placed fifth in a time of 23.48.
- Elias Gerald finished third in the men's high jump with a jump of 2.13m. He has now placed in the top-three at three meets this season.
- Matteo Mitchell made his indoor debut in the men's weight throw with a best mark of 18.84m to place fifth.
- Edward Nketia took sixth place in the men's 200m with a new personal best of 20.87.
- Madison Mosby made her individual collegiate debut in the women's 400m with a time of 54.76.
- Avery Lewis marked a new personal best in the women's long jump at 6.00m.
- Lincoln Marschall notched a personal record as well at 46.87 in the men's 400m.
The Trojans are back in action in two states tomorrow. The Don Kirby Elite Invite continues at 9 a.m. PT with men's 60m hurdles while 800m runners Oluwatosin Awoleye and Chase McCallum will compete at the Husky Classic starting at 1 p.m. Live updates for both meets are available at usctrojans.com or @usc_track_field on Instagram and X.
