February 14, 2026 | Women's Golf
The Trojans lead the field with a 269 (-15).
PALM DESERT — Recording one of the best rounds in program history, the No. 2 USC women's golf team fired a 269 (-15) in the first round to take the lead at the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic, held at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif. on Saturday, Feb. 14.
The Trojans' 269 strokes in the first round were the third-lowest in program history, while the team's -15 was the sixth-best round relative to par in school history. No other team finished below par: Long Beach State (+6), Boise State (+7) and No. 11 UCLA (+9) round out the top four teams.
All four scorers for USC finished under par and placed in the top five. Sophomore Jasmine Koo is currently in first place with a 64 (-7), which was not only the best round of her collegiate career, but also tied for the third-fewest strokes in a single round in program history. She had zero bogeys and seven birdies in the first round, including back-to-back birdies on Nos. 1 and 2 to cap off the best round of her career.
Fellow sophomore Kylie Chong is tied for second after firing a 67 (-4) for the second-best round of her collegiate career. Like Koo, Chong had a bogey-free first round and four birdies, including two of them on Nos. 1 and 2 to begin her first round.
Junior Bailey Shoemaker is tied for fourth with a 69 (-2) in the first round, giving her two rounds in the 60s this spring. Shoemaker had one bogey on the par-4 No. 7, but finished with three birdies on the back side to move up into the top five.
Senior Catherine Park also moved into a tie for fourth place with a 69 (-2). Park had just one bogey on the par-four No. 1 to start her round, but she bounced back with two birdies on the front side before a birdie on No. 18 moved her into the top five.
Elise Lee is in a tie for 27th with a 74 (+3). She finished with three bogeys and no birdies.
Individuals Sarah Hammett and Chloe Kim are tied for 39th with 75s (+4). Kim finished with six bogeys but back-to-back birdies on Nos. 15 and 16 helped improve her score. Hammett found trouble on the front side with three bogeys and one double bogey, yet Hammett moved up the leaderboard with three birdies on the front side. However, she finished her round with a double bogey on No. 17 and a bogey on No. 18.
Tomorrow's second round will have an 8:00 a.m. PT shotgun start. A link to live scoring can be found on the women's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
