No. 2 USC Women’s Golf Moves into Top Ten at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge

The Trojans had the second-best round of the day to move up to eighth place.
PALOS VERDES ESTATES — Boosted by Bailey Shoemaker and Elise Lee, the No. 2 USC women's golf team surged up to eighth during the second round of the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. on Monday, Feb. 2.
USC started the day in a tie for 14th place but now sits in eighth place with its two-round score of 586 (+18). The Trojans' second-round score of 283 (-1) on the par-71, 6,017-yard course was the second-best score of the day, trailing Florida's 282 (-2). No. 23 UCLA still leads the pack with a two-round score of 566 (-2), while UCLA's Jeonghyun Lee is the top individual with a two-round score of 138 (-4).
Junior Bailey Shoemaker moved up 20 places and is now tied for fourth with a two-round score of 141 (-1). She and Elise Lee fired 68s (-3), which was tied for the best round of the day. Shoemaker started strong with four birdies on the front side before carding her first bogey of the day on the par-4 No. 18. She then had her fifth and final birdie of the round on the par-3 No.8 before finishing the day with a bogey on the par-4 No. 9. Her 68 (-3) is tied for the third-best round of her career.
The aforementioned Elise Lee is tied for 20th with her two-round score of 145 (+3). She tied her career-low round of 68 (-3) with five birdies and just two bogeys, both of which were on the front side. Lee had no bogeys on the back side. By moving up 38 places, she was the biggest mover on the day.
Sophomore Kylie Chong is in a tie for 43rd place with a two-round score of 149 (+7). She had three birdies, but two double-bogeys on the front side and two bogeys on the back side pushed her score over par. Her three birdies in round two were the most she has had in a round at this tournament.
Senior Catherine Park moved into a tie for 61st place with a two-round score of 152 (+10), while Chloe Kim and Jasmine Koo are tied for 73rd with two-round scores of 154 (+12). Kim is competing as an individual.
